Alex Leitch is an artist, educator, and technician. They currently serve as Assistant Director of the HCIM program at the University of Maryland, where they have taught courses on programming, interaction design, and fabrication since 2019. Their recent projects include interdisciplinary outdoor installations like Aqualith, a capacitive-stone installation, and FiddleHex. Their main interest is in kinetic sculpture and robotics with interesting control systems.

Arne's travels in the field of information security have crossed areas ranging from usable security to side-channel analysis. He has also taught the various branches that make up security engineering. Currently, Arne's main interest is how the application of risk management and threat modelling can lead to the design, development, and deployment of more secure systems.

Carsten (aka @CarK) ist befasst sich beruflich mit Systemdynamik, "erklärbarer KI" und formaler Wissensrepräsentation. Außerdem bringt er Ingenieur:innen die Freuden der Python-Programmierung nahe. Damit er diese tollen Sachen noch möglichst lange tun kann, und aus allgemeinem Sinnstiftungsbedürfnis, engagiert er sich auch für Nachhaltigkeit und Freie Software (z.B. Bits&Bäume, FSFW, TUUWI). Im Sommer 2023 hat er die Initiative für Konstruktive Digitale Diskussionskultur mitgegründet, https://kddk.eu.

Celia Chen is a 2nd year PhD student in the Information Studies program at the University of Maryland. They hold BS and MS degrees in Cognitive and Psychological Data Science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, where they worked with the RPIrates on computational text analysis of political tweets and creating predictive models using WHO data to estimate early COVID-19 infection spread under the advisement of Dr. James Hendler. Concurrently advised by Dr. Alicia Walf, they wrote protocols for using Fitbits and other biometric sensors for human subjects research, gaining experience with wearable sensors and physiological data. Currently advised by Dr. Jen Golbeck, their personal research explores user identity construction and language use in online spaces. For this project, Celia handled the coding to enable communication between the Myo armband, Raspberry Pi, and pneumatic robot, drawing on their background in cognitive science and human sensor input.

In my free time, I work on free and open source software, especially operating systems and distributions, bringup and application firmware, with a focus on tooling, integration, and documentation.

JeDi, Jahrgang 1991, ist Eisenbahner_in mit Leib und Seele, und kennt sich vor allem mit Bahnbetrieb und Ticketing aus. Nach einigen Irrwegen durch das deutsche Bildungssystem beschäftigte es sich zunächst mit Vertriebssystemen, und begleitet nun deutschlandweit Sonder- und Ersatzzüge.

Jonathan Eibisch hat zur politischen Theorie des Anarchismus promoviert und bloggt auf paradox-a.de. Er ist in Chemnitz aufgewachsen, lebte lange in Jena und ist nun in Leipzig aktiv.

Der ausgebildete Chemielaborant analysierte norddeutsche Abwässer, bevor er an der Universität Hamburg Chemie studierte. Nach dem Abschluss betrieb er einen der ersten deutschen Wissenschaftsblogs. Er ist Redakteur, betreut die Blogplattform »SciLogs« und betreibt mit »Spektrum«-Redakteur Mike Zeitz den Youtube-Kanal »Wir Werden Alle Sterben«. Seine wichtigsten Themen sind Chemie, Geowissenschaften, Infektionskrankheiten, Naturkatastrophen und Quokkas.

I am the founder of The Universal Fairytale (UNESCO) and The Ziggurat projects between Berlin, Germany and Glasgow, Scotland. These are offered through a series of educational and performance-based workshops and photographic processes, book arts, exhibitions, and community-based projects. These activities range of being for professionals to novice accessible. Workshops which make handcraft and photographic processes accessible as technology for teaching cultural understanding through Book Arts. I studied at Parsons School of Design, received an MRes from the Glasgow School of Art and an MPhil in autoethnographical research in Theology and Creative Practice at Glasgow University.  Currently, I am working on a PhD in Modern Languages & Cultures based on my work with sustainability, diversity, equity, and inclusion through The Ziggurat.  I have been a Guest Artist at the Dutch Royal College of Art & Design and the Royal Conservatoire through the Image & Sound Department.
