Between trees and under glowing clouds you'll find the 'Lichtung' (clearing) -- our stage for your talks and discussions. You’ll find space for workshops in the basement.
Whether (network) politics, ecological topics, presentation of the latest security threats or exciting hack + make projects -- we look forward to your submission.
For workshops we have basic equipment and tools available for your use, such as soldering irons, 3D printers, etc.

Lectures are usually 40 or 60 minutes long. Workshops can be any length.

Submission Guidelines

Description:

Please send us a meaningful, as complete as possible, but not excessively long description of your planned lecture or workshop. Your description has a great influence on our selection process, so please do make it meaningful. Quality comes before quantity, of course. Submitting a corporate or product propaganda proposal makes no sense (even if it's undercover). Marketing and sales droids are disappearing from this event without leaving a trace. We are creating a commercial-and-marketing-free congress.

Title:

Since most participants choose their presentations mainly through the title, your title should be understandable, concise and relevant to the content. The content team will pay special attention to this and help if necessary. Please note: we reserve the right to make suggestions for changes to insider jokes in the titles and, in case of doubt, to reject a presentation that is otherwise good because the title is incomprehensible.

Motivation:

Since there is a chance that several people will submit a talk on the same or a similar topic, please show us exactly why your talk should be included -- remember that the teams are diverse and not all curators know all the submitters and their backgrounds. It can be helpful to write something about yourself, your research, or your motivation when submitting. We don't care if the talk took place at another conference somewhere on the planet. We only ask that the content is up-to-date and relevant. Please let us know if you have submitted your proposal to another channel for this year's Congress.

Length:

Workshops can be any length. Lectures can be either [30 minutes plus 10 minutes for questions and answers] or [45 minutes plus 15 minutes for questions and answers]. Exceptions prove the rule. When you submit, please think carefully how long you will really need for a concise presentation and let us know how long your presentation should last.

Language:

Although the Chaos Communication Congress is an international event and a lot of content is presented in English, if you are not comfortable with presenting in English it is totally fine to present your lecture in German. If your talk will be held in English, your submission should also be in English.

Publication:

Audio and video recordings of the lectures will be published in various formats under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license. This license allows commercial use of excerpts by media institutions as part of their reporting. If you do not wish for material from your lecture to be published or streamed, please let us know in your submission.
Note: As German law (and therefore the license) might differ from the law of your country, please let us know if you have any issues or questions regarding the exact implications. Unfortunately, we can’t guarantee a perfect translation.
