Does green coding really make a difference regarding the energy consumption of software? And how can we measure that difference? To find out, we programmed a simple frontend web app in two ways: A normal and a “green” way. When we thought we were done, the real struggle began: Measuring the effect of the deployed optimization techniques.
This talk provides a very brief introduction into our quest to understand website carbon calculators.
